Two Block Parties, One North Anthony Corridor
Young and old alike will find plenty of fun at the third annual North Anthony Corridor Block Party, occurring Sunday, September 11. “The family friendly events are always a hit, including bounce houses and face painting. [And] there is plenty for adults to do as well, with [live] bands and a beer tent,” says Aja Michael, NACG Board Member and Event Workgroup Chair.
New events which will be coming to the block party this year include a BMX show, live street performers/buskers, roving vendors, food trucks, and giant pong. Giant pong is “like beer pong, but with trash cans instead of solo cups,” Michael explained.
Michael also noted how easily accessible the block party is to everyone in the city. “We have a bike valet so people don’t need to worry about parking, and they’ll enjoy seeing how walkable and bicycle-accessible our area of the city is.”
With new activities coming to the block party each year, Michael hopes to keep it growing into the future. “Every year we hope to add new elements to keep the event fresh, and to highlight the diverse businesses and neighborhoods we serve. We’d also like to carry the spirit of the block party through the rest of the year with smaller monthly events.”
There is also a mini-block party on Saturday, September 10th with a free outdoor movie screening of Big and Gremlins at Sweets So Geek. Sweets So Geek partnered with Ivy Tech, the Indiana Humanities Council, Wunderkammer Company, and Hoch and Associates to bring music, food, contests, and more to the North Anthony Corridor for the "ALL in Block Party." The collaboration aims "to build a temporary space to celebrate all things Indiana and promote civic engagement, build community, and encourage new experiences!"
For a weekend of fun for the whole family, head to the North Anthony Corridor!
