BuskerFest In Review

The Downtown Improvement District (DID) successfully held the 7th-annual BuskerFest on June 25th from 4-10 pm, stunning crowds of all ages. BuskerFest is a festival in downtown Fort Wayne that celebrates street performers, with face paint, fun, and entertainment galore. Each year, the festival features local and international acts of family friendly entertainment, and admission is free—although festival-goers are encouraged to tip the buskers. Unlike the Three Rivers Festival, BuskerFest is just one day, so it can be easy to miss!

This year, BuskerFest introduced an elevated 8' x 25' jumbo screen to help the large audiences see the “Busker Central Pitch” and “Loud & Local Pitch,” two of the main performance plazas. There were even interactive acts, such as a gold-painted, Christmas tree light-wearing Marie Antoinette who would dance and twirl with any who asked. The Art Market on Calhoun Street also offered creations for sale by local artists during the event.

All types of street performers celebrated their talents during the festival, and Fort Wayne was able to appreciate them thanks to the help of the Downtown Improvement District. This year’s BuskerFest was a hit and a great way to start off the summer before the 4th of July and gearing up for everyone's favorite: the Three Rivers Festival.
